Perhaps "Think scope of the variables" is better worded.

Yes it does function as an obfuscator but it triples the size of that piece of source, it has absolutely no fallback for those who surf with JS disabled, it pollutes the global namespace. It has at least 2 absolutely useless lines, worse they are a prime spot for an infinite loop.
