Glasgow 2004
Well, BikeRepairmain and I met up with bod1467 this afternoon. Sadly Jockrock couldn't join us on account of being abroad. Lots of fun, apart for the 2 games of pool we played. (Very embarrassing results, we were creamed.)
We celebrated the Dutch holiday of Sinterklaas , which caught bod completely by surprise. =] He made a bad start of the celebrations by opening the present intended for his kids. <grin /> But he recovered well after that.
It is indeed a bit strange to meet people you've known online for real.
We, BikeRepairman and I, expressed our intention to hold a SE convention in our part of the world in 2006 (second weekend of august) during the festival of the roses (Don't forget to set reminders on you calendars.)
See you later. bod1467 on Dec 5, 2004 at 11:46:30 AM (# 3203) This message has been edited.I see you used up some of your precious laptop battery to make the above post! ^_^ (Fancy going abroad and forgetting to bring a charger/mains adapter. ;-)
Indeed I did inadvertantly open the present meant for my kids. However I shall maintain that it was a language issue and I didn't understand exactly what BachusII said. (Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;-)
But on the subject of gifts - it was indeed a tad embarrassing being caught on the hop. Fortunately I was able to offer them a gift each in the way of my business card. ^_^
BTW - myself and my my family say thank you for your kind gifts. The only problem now is that all the women are going to be fighting over who wears the clogs necklace. ^_^ (I know it was the gift for my wife but that didn't stop both my daughters saying "Ooh, that's nice!" :-)
It IS strange meeting online friends for real. What was also a weird coincidence is that all three of us have our birthday in January hence we are all Capricorns!
Regarding the SiteExperts Convention 2006, I shall make every effort to attend (and my wife likes the sound of the rose festival). bod1467 on Dec 5, 2004 at 12:28:09 PM (# 3204)>> Lots of fun, apart for the 2 games of pool we played. (Very embarrassing results, we were creamed.)
I guess that's a sign of my mis-spent youth! :-) There were no computers really in my day. I mean - an advanced PC was a Commodore 8008 PET! It had a whole 8KB of RAM you know! ;-) BikeRepairman on Dec 5, 2004 at 2:23:01 PM (# 3205) This message has been edited.A commodore 8008?? I thought you said your first and true love were pong and pacman...
No we don't use the laptop of bachusii because there are two internet pc's at the hotel. (which costs us a sh*tload of money)
MHenke on Dec 6, 2004 at 3:38:41 AM (# 3206)> We, BikeRepairman and I, expressed our intention to hold a SE convention in our part of the world in 2006 [...] That's barely 300km from my part of the world, may I can join then... 8) RobinAnn on Dec 6, 2004 at 6:34:24 AM (# 3207)And we all know how much I want to go... :o) ooooh, I need a big job $$$. Maybe the festival of Roses is our convention spot?! (In the UK) Then for sure I'll be able to go... someday *sigh* bod1467 on Dec 6, 2004 at 8:29:18 AM (# 3208)The Rose Festival is in Holland (The Netherlands). You can probably fly to Amsterdam as cheaply as you can fly to the UK. From there you would connect on to Laarbruch (so I believe) which is about 10 miles from Lottum.
