It isn't, there is a very simple way to view the DOM. Microsoft has a tool for web developers called 'View partial source'. If you install this you can make a selection in an HTML page in your browser an chose 'view partial source' from the context menu. This wil show you the DOM for that part of the page not the real HTML source.
