 Disable Autocomplete

I am trying to disable the Autocomplete function in I.E. 6. I have unchecked all the boxes in Autocomplete setting, and deleted the history file and the password file. My OS is XP PRO and I am using I.E. 6.0.2800. Please help before I go crazy with the Autocompletion box popping up.

It keeps asking me if I want to turn Autocomplete on, and I keep answering NO. How do I make it stop?

Next time I upgrade or buy a new computer I will not use any OS that is from Microsoft.

Thank you for your valuable feedback on SiteExpert.com.

However, there's a way to completely turn off the autocomplete "feature":

  • On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options
  • Click the Advanced tab
  • Scroll down and look under Browsing, click Use inline AutoComplete and remove the tick

Could be that there'll be one more dialog box after that, asking if you want to turn it on again.
