Too much space in IE (fine in Firefox)

I have a new web site, and welcome feedback. But first: On the main page of the site....

www.picklepost.com

...the space between the main logo at the top (logo2.gif) and the fist words on the site ("Select a City") is bigger on IE than it is on Firefox. I like the look on Firefox better. Also, I think I'm going crazy & getting confused with all the <TR> and <TD> tags.
