I think that what ritzytipsycat meant to say was that Yahoo does not provide assistance in creating, trouble shooting or critiqueing web sites. Not that Yahoo does not support HTML. They just don't have a support center to assist people in creating their web sites....
I agree with Hunks. I read the responses here first before I reviewed the site and was expecting a lot worse. The site is actualy pretty good. There's some images out of line in the upper left corner that I notice, but overall it's not bad.
85% of online consumers use search engines to find their products. My immediate suggestion is to be sure to put your main keywords in the
tag and also include a meta "description" tag as well. Also, be sure to submit your links to other sites that will swap a link with you, including but not limited to smaller seach engines/directories, other related companies (Be sure their related, if it's not you may actually get penalized). You may have to create another page on your site named "Links" or "Resources" (the latter is better) to place the traded links because some companies want to see their link on your site first before they place yours on theirs. It's a long process but it's what your competition is doing, I'm sure.
Good luck.
ritzytipsycat on May 3, 2006 at 7:00:55 PM (# 10)MMinor, you are correct. Yahoo does not want to provide any assistance, etc. etc. like you said. Sad, maybe I should have gone with another service.
ritzytipsycat on May 3, 2006 at 7:03:16 PM (# 11)HunKs,
Thanks for the advise. I need to tailor to a broader audience. I had also tought about doing link exchanges but I'm afraid that because I'm unknow people might not trust me. It's worth a try anyway.

Thanks for you too. I'm going to have to browse places where I can get an idea of the 'meta tags' and the 'html' and so on. I figure my site can be 'saved' instead of spending on a designer. I added code a while back on some pages as a test but got a message that sometimes the changes take MONTHS to get posted !! I guess I don't have enough patience but I do think that the internet is a very good way to sell.
guitarzar on May 4, 2006 at 11:52:14 AM (# 13)As I said I didn't want to come across too harsh but I guess it did. I've been working in this business for many years and I just know what works and what doesn't. I'm NOT a youngster and certainly not a newbie.
I see the following issues with your site that could easily turn someone off. If these comments offend you I apologize. My intensions are to help you improve your site, nothing more:
- The red font on the purple background is hard to read. I suggest you choose another color for either that provides a higher contrast between the two and makes your text easier to read.
- The banner at the page top does NOT align with the items below it. It looks clumbsy and unprofessional. In fact, I would go so far as to say it looks like the designer was lost and could not figure out how to get things to align.
- The menu buttons look very amaturish (is that a word?). Create something more classy. If you're not good with graphics then use a simple text menu.
- Consider framing your product images. A thin border (1px) around each gives a more polished look.
If these comments offend you I apologize but you asked for help so I'm trying to give it to you. If you're interested in learning how to design and develop a website I highly recommend; 1) Get a copy of Dreamweaver, 2) Get a book on how to design effective websites, there are many available, 3) Get a book on how to use Dreamweaver. If you have any questions just ask. I will check back tomorrow.
