That click/blink is called "refreshing". It's a must in many DHTML scripts, if you want to achieve your goal. Otherwise, choose something more "statis", Megamike.

I like this cross-browser technique and I rate it 5.

The click/blink makes it feel like you are just loading another page. Not a good look.
