Developer's Paradise : Book :
Professional Active Server Pages 2.0
Submission by SiteExperts Staff

Short Description
This book covers all the bases for building web-sites powered by Microsoft Technologies.

Long Description
Building on the success of the first edition Professional ASP book, ISBN 1861000723, this book brings the subject area up to date with its coverage of ASP 2.0, released as part of IIS4.

Active Server Pages is the Microsoft technology which allows you to build pages dynamically, access databases easily and build secure commercial applications for use over the Internet. This book assumes a knowledge of the Internet and either JavaScript or VBScript. This book covers the revised ASP Object Model and Components, then moves on to look at ASP with databases, with Transaction Server and Components, with Mail Systems, with IE4, with Site Server and with Personalization Server. The book also provides additional case studies to give you practical examples to adapt for your own use and a chapter focussing on the issue of securing your application.

This text has proven very helpful in getting me oriented to the ASP environment. As always it is the developer's responsibility to take the text to the next level by creating his own code projects. The book examples are enough to give the general idea of use.

I think the book is technically competent, but is leveled at the beginner rather than the professional.  There is just too much 'fluff', but isn't this always the case with most computing books ?
